The experts tell us we need to do exercise, eat well, meditate and on and on. The hard thing is to find time to do it all. Sometimes what we really need to do is disconnect. Disconnect from the everyday tasks, including all our electronic devises and connect with the real world.
Walking is great exercise and it is important to pick up the pace in order to get our heart pumping, but it is also important to use this time to help us get a perspective on our lives. Try walking outdoors and while you do this observe your surroundings. You don´t need to be at the beach, or near the lake or park, just walk around the block and greet the people you pass. Look at your surroundings as if it were the first time you saw them. Look at the trees and observe the difference between them, notice the new paint on the corner store, or the new plant in your neighbor’s garden. Watch the birds fly by and take in the way the leaves on the trees contrast with the color of the sky. Do this every other day for 30 minutes, and if you can work in a brisk walk for another half hour, will be ready to handle any antagonizing comment that might come your way.
